happy eaters

if I am going to get sick of cereal, it has yet to occur. not only do i eat it almost every day, i almost exclusively eat it for dinner. several others i know have the same habit; it seems to come with the life here in the burg. the sad state of things as they currently stand is that anything requiring more than 3 minutes' prep time doesn't make it as a dinner option. too often, i will get home at 10pm with the goal of being in bed by 11. even boiling pasta takes too long; it requires at least half an hour from lighting the burner to finishing the sauce left on the plate. cereal can be fixed in a minute, doesn't go bad if you forget to eat it, and tastes so so good. even the issue of milk expiration dates can be skirted by having such long-shelf-life substitues as yogurt and unsweetend soymilk around. they also help in the event that hardship or laziness prevents me from getting more milk in a timely fashion.

i had thought the other day, as i posted a soda-related comment on a low-carb lifestyle blog, that it was rather ironic. still, i forgot all about that until i had finished this post. i eat tons and tons of high carbohydrate foods, try to get in my fresh fruits and vegetables and enough protein. i definitely worry more about refined sugar and excessive fat than carbohydrates in general.

You would really like this restaurant here, the Cereal Cafe. It's all cereal, all day, but with toppings and milk flavors like mango and rootbeer. Sounds strange, tastes good. But lots of fat and carbs and only the oatmeal for the health concious. I hear there's also one in Maryland.

Ever tried raw oatmeal with milk? No one beleives me but it's so much better. More chewyness.

I do eat a lot of rather raw-ish organic type granola, and that stuff is pretty chewy, so I can see the raw oatmeal with milk working well.

It's like the time I thought of putting yogurt on bread and everyone told me I was crazy, but now everybody does it, and likes it...and I no longer do it at all because I prefer sandwiches instead.
